Glow Bug Cloth Diaper Review {Mother's Day Cloth Diaper Sponsor Spotlight}

About the Glow Bug Diaper Co.
This company was started by two friend mommies looking for affordable cloth diapers that would meet all the needs of their babies.  They weren't able to find any that they liked so they started Glow Bug!

About Glow Bug Diapers:

  • Our diapers are sold in packages of 12 in stylish Girl’s prints, Boy’s prints and vibrant Spectrum colours Each diaper includes 2 absorbent snap-in inserts
  • Made with NEW SlimDry™ fabric for the trimmest fit
  • Each set of 12 diapers are packaged in a free wet bag!!!
  • Our packages are affordable at only $150 for 12 diapers, 24 inserts and a free coordinating wet bag!
 Our Design Features:
  • Two sets of cross-over snaps through the waist band for a perfect fit around newborn tummies
  • Double rows of snaps with square tabs for a trim fit through the hip
  • Four size settings fitting babies from birth through potty training (7lbs-35lbs)
  • Coordinating coloured snaps for every print
  • Waterproof flaps in the front and the back of each diaper to prevent leaks
  • Double gusset through the leg for an extra barrier of protection
  • NEW SlimDry™ fabric keeps baby’s skin dry without the bulk
  • Two openings in the pocket makes it easier to get the absorbent inset in and out
  • Snap-in inserts to keep it in place while baby’s on the move

My Opinions:
I was sent one Glow Bug diaper in the glow bug print.  It's so cute! One of my favorite features of this diaper is the dual gussets.  It really seems to help prevent leaking.  I had never tried a diaper with dual gussets before and am really impressed already.  This diaper fits my 20 month old great but is still a bit too big for my newborn baby.  These diapers have a neat snap in insert feature - I've used it both with or without snapping the insert in and I like it both ways.  I think the snap in feature is really great when using the diaper for overnight as it helps keep the insert in the right spot while the baby is sleeping. This diaper washes well and has held up really well - it isn't showing any signs of wear yet and I've washed it a bunch of times.  Glow Bug diapers can only be purchased in sets of 12 so this could be difficult for some, especially those who like to build their cloth diaper stashes slowly.  But these diapers are much less expensive than many others like it, so buying a pack of 12 could be very worth it!

Glow bug print diaper - they have many other cute fabrics too! :)

Bummas Cloth Wipes Review {Mother's Day Cloth Diaper Sponsor Spotlight}

I'm excited to be reviewing Bumma's cloth wipes!  When you use cloth diapers for your babies cloth wipes are almost a must!  I was sent the "Wild Ones" set, they include one of each color.  You can see all the colors and sets here.

These cloth wipes work really well.  The size is a bit odd but still work.  I like them better for my newborn then my toddler because they are kind of small, at least to what I've been used to using.  These wipes also work great for other things too.  I like to keep a few in the diaper bag to wet when we are out to clean up messy faces.  You can also use them as spit up cloths, they are small and quite absorbent.  These are made primarily as drying wipes but I've been using them mostly as regular wet wipes.

I've washed these a lot of times and they are still great, not fraying or have many strings at all.  They don't shrink either.  I like that they are 100% cotton are lasting so many washes.

From Bumma's site:

  • Eliminates the use of talcum powder.
  • 100% Cotton - Woven Velour Terry Cloth.
  • Variety of color combinations for nursery themes.
  • Handy 5” x 7” size. Won’t pill, shrink, or fade. May need a little trim after washing.
  • Wash in like colors before use.
  • Durable. Just throw them in the wash and use again.
  • They will last until your little one is out of diapers and beyond!

Come back May 1-12 to enter to win a set of your own.  Bumma's is giving away 1 set of wipes in winner's choice of color to one winner during the Mother's Day Cloth Diaper Giveaway Hop.

 *Disclaimer - I was sent a sample of these to review.  All opinions are my own.  Thank you Bumma's for sending me these to review!

Oh Katy Cloth Diaper Review - Sweet Little Blessings {Mother's Day Cloth Diaper Spotlight}

I found this cloth diaper site - Sweet Little Blessings that is really neat.  They sell all types of diapers and diapering accessories.  Coleen from Sweet Little Blessings sent me a Froggy Oh Katy One Size Pocket Diaper to review.

About Sweet Little Blessings:
My name is Coleen and I am a WAHM to twelve children...so I've had LOTS of diapering experience!  I have always wanted to have my own business and decided in July of 2008 to finally start Sweet Little Blessings. We are starting with cloth diapers and accessories, but hope to expand our product line as our business grows.

Every Oh Katy™ One-Size Pocket Diaper comes with a full-size adjustable insert and a newborn insert/doubler. Fits most babies from 8-35lbs.
 Unique Features Include:
  • Patented front-opening pocket design
  • Infant side snaps to prevent wing-droop
  • Wrap and snap feature for clean storage
  • Ultra-soft microfiber fleece to keep baby feeling dry
  • Multiple inserts included

This was the first one sized diaper that I had ever used.  I was really curious on how one diaper would be able to fit such a large range of size.  It was perfect timing for me too as we just had our second baby and have a 20 month old.  I was a little concerned that the diaper would be too bulky for my newborn and not work well but it actually worked really great!  I used it on my newborn on the smallest settings and around the Medium (maybe a bit bigger) settings for my 20 month old.  The diaper worked great as a daytime and nighttime (with the extra insert) diaper.

The Oh Katy inserts have a logo/tag on them - now I can quickly tell which inserts belong to them. You can see the tags on the inserts in the picture below. The Oh Katy diapers include both a newborn size insert and regular size insert.  These can be used together for more absorption for heavy wetters or for overnight.  The regular sized insert can be folded over and snapped (see second picture) to use for a newborn.  The inserts had pretty good absorption, though I haven't ever used microfiber inserts before, I only have used cotton/bamboo blends and combinations.
This is the first pocket diaper I've used that the opening to put the insert in is in the front rather than the back.  It's easy to use there and since there isn't any elastic which can make it a bit more inconvenient to push the inserts in.

Over all I thought these diapers were really great!  I love that they fit both a newborn and a toddler.  I'm not fond of the microfiber inserts as I prefer using organic or natural fabrics for my baby's diapers, but overall they are a really great diaper for a great price.

And, from now until April 30th you can buy 5 and get 1 Oh Katy diaper FREE at Sweet Little Blessings.

You can sign up for their newsletter or follow them on Facebook

Be sure to come back during the Mother's Day Cloth Diaper Cloth Diaper Giveaway Event (May 1 - 12, 2012) to enter to win a $25.00 gift certificate to Sweet Little Blessings store!

The Good Wife's Guide - Book Review

I really enjoyed this eBook; I put it on my phone and read it whenever I had a few moments! I appreciated that it was a quick read and straight to the point. Being a wife and momma means you don’t have as much time to read. : ) It’s a very encouraging book packed full with truth & inspiration to be a good wife.

The first part of this book goes through life experiences and pares them up with the Bible. Encouraging & inspiring us as wives to take on our God given role and flourish.
Purpose is found in those quiet moments when no one but God sees the work of your hands. ~ Darlene Schacht
The second part of this book is about “Practical Application” - managing your time and housekeeping well. This section is extremely thorough and goes through so much. Darlene shares her best tips on organizing, deep cleaning, regular cleaning schedules & cleaning recipes.

In the deep cleaning your bathroom part (section 2, schedule 6) Darlene gives 53 steps to get it done. I didn’t know you could find 53 things to clean in the bathroom, it’s pretty much the smallest room in most houses. I feel quite motivated after reading this book and want to get some deep “Spring Cleaning” done, hopefully soon!

I loved this poem that was in the book:

A Kitchen Prayer
Thank God for dirty dishes,
They have a tale to tell;
While others may go hungry
We’re eating very well.
With home, health, and happiness,
I shouldn’t want to fuss;
By the stack of evidence,
God’s been very good to us!
~Anonymous

I didn’t necessarily learn something “new” from this book but was encouraged to continue to strive towards always being a better wife to my husband & momma to our children.   A good, respectful, godly, happy, joyful, etc wife makes a happy mom & example to her children.

I think this book would make a great gift or read for a new wife or one who has been married for awhile!! :) Its well worth the $2.99 for the eBook format and the $11.95 for the printed copy (I’d love to get a printed copy some day – this is definitely a read again book!)  The printed copy just was release April 16th!

You can read more about Darlene on her site here, I'm sure you will be encouraged there by the things she shares - I have been!  The Good Wife's Guide can be purchased here.

Ohh, Baby Baby Giveaway Hop! ~ MobyWrap Giveaway

Oh Baby Baby Giveaway Hop
Welcome to the Oh Baby Baby Giveaway Hop hosted by The Shopping Duck! After entering this giveaway, be sure to enter the Grand Prize Giveaway where you can win a prize pack worth over $250 or an $80 Babies R Us Gift Card! Each participating blogger is also hosting a prize worth at least $25. Be sure to visit each participating blog listed in the linky below and enter to win some great baby products!

Wearing your baby is one of the best ways to bond with them (not to mention being able to have your hands free to do other things while holding your precious baby! :) ).  The MobyWrap is one of my favorites ways to carry my baby around. I love the ease and simplicity of using it.  It takes a little while to learn but once you get it it's so easy and comfortable.

I purchased my first MobyWrap when my first baby was just a few weeks old and used it all the time.  Your baby is held close and snuggled up to you due to the one-way stretchy fabric.  My baby loved it and would be so happy in it for so long.  My husband enjoyed wearing our son in our MobyWrap too.  I'm looking forward to using the MobyWrap again with our new baby (he's a week old!). :-)

I really like that the MobyWrap is machine wash and dry-able. I have the Organic MobyWrap in Chocolate, I don't see that they have the organic chocolate on their site anymore but they have Celery, Coconut, Eggplant, Licorice, & Beautiful Life all made with organic cotton. They also have Original MobyWraps in 100% cotton in 10 different colors.
MobyWrap in Pacific
About Moby Wrap:
Moby Wrap, the award-winning baby carrier, is a long piece of ultra soft, breathable cotton that is wrapped around the wearer to create a safe, custom-fitted and versatile baby carrier. For babies to 35lbs, the Moby Wrap is the most comfortable baby carrier on the market. Moby Wraps are available in original solids, fun prints and designs, UV protected and organic cotton. Each Moby Wrap is designed to custom fit the contours of both baby and babywearer. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners, making wearing a Moby Wrap simple and convenient. We use only the softest 100% cotton, making it comfortable against baby’s skin. All Moby Wraps are machine washable and fit almost everyone. The Moby Wrap retails for between $44.95 and $59.95.

Moby Wrap Inc. was founded in 2003 by parents with a passion for babywearing who saw the need for a more comfortable, secure and versatile way to carry their infants. Made from the softest of cotton fabrics, the Moby (mother and baby) Wrap is by far the most comfortable baby carrier available today. It distributes weight evenly from the wearer’s shoulders to hips and aligns baby's center of gravity as close to the wearer's body as possible. Since its inception, Moby has expanded its line to include baby carriers and accessories in a gorgeous array of colors, prints and fabrics, including UV protected and organic cotton. Moby partners with other organizations that emphasize empowering parents. Moby products can be found in stores across the US and in more than 28 countries.

Moby Wrap will be giving away 1 Pacific Moby Wrap to one reader (US only).  To enter use the Rafflecopter form below:
